I guess we all need them, from
time to time. Maybe start to exercise because the safety wheel around your
waist is too wide, start to learn new language or find a sentence you could say
to many people in their native language, move to a different place, get a new
job, meet new people or change an attitude and share your “Happy
Banana time” with friends.
MC office resident
Purple fusion |
Once I came, AIESEC Sri Lanka MC office was a place which I called
home. I had a separate room, shared a bathroom, kitchen and sitting room, or
rather office. The house was in strategically good place, convenient point A for
any point B. And for the whole month I really had so much fun with my great
buddy Thilina, other MC people, my semi-roommate Alla and our Russian
speaking-and-singing evenings, 5 language conversations and dancing nights.
On my room doors there was (and still is) a note: “Boys room: MC use
only” or “MC use only boys room”. Interesting, but let’s leave it to the topic
of “Wise notice papers”.
Sri Lankan sequence: 19, 23, 21
Its hard to believe, but Lithuania and Sri Lanka are nearly the same size: 65, 200 sq.km - 65,610 sq.km |
Once I tried to find a place for the first time, I asked one man to
say where I could find a house no 21. Apparently whole bunch of people appeared
from nowhere (looks like they lurked somewhere and waited for such an
opportunity to show themselves up) and wanted to help me. “International house?”
the bravest one asked me. My fast and strong “Yes” just proved their wisdom and
mind-reading abilities and as a result of this mutual collaboration and
unanimous team work, I finally was able to find the house No. 21, which
actually was the third house in a row after No. 19 and 23. And how come I
haven’t thought about it before. But I’m lucky to meet helpful people.
Strangers are always willing to help: ask do I need a taxi, lottery ticket,
food. As well, they are extremely curious and keep questioning: where do I
live, am I alone, how long I’m gonna stay here, where I want to go and where I
am from. Strange, but after my answers “I am from Lithuania”, they make stop
questioning me and make long “Aaaa” sound, so I have to specify – “It’s in
Europe”. Yea, there are more countries than UK, The Netherlands, Sweden,
Germany and Spain.
Life in blue
Moving to a new place was a good choice, because I really like it. It
has three rooms to live, big sitting room with TV, sofa, two armchairs, journal
table and a huge balcony! My dream to eat weekend’s breakfast in balcony
finally came true.
It makes my smile every day |
I have a separate room and live alone for now, but by the end of this
month there suppose to come one Chinese girl, my new roommate. In my room there
are two beds, one small wardrobe-commode and mirror on its door, two mosquitos’
nets, one electric socket, some painting with fishes, Hana Montana sticker, two
lights, few hangers, always closed window, fan and… oh, that’s all. But I
definitely like it. This new one isn’t as hot (by its very first meaning) as previous one and if somebody would
give my beloved 11 men picture (“Lunch Atop a Skyscraper”) which adorned my
former room in Sweden, this would be around perfect.
In general, impression is really good. Plus every day I’m passing
really beautiful blue house. Strange, but blue houses always attract my
attention. I can’t say that I would like to live in it one day, but now I am
surrounded by blue colour – blue sari, blue blanket, bed sheets, towel, make up
remover. I bought two blue blouses here, my umbrella is blue, event my iron,
mosquitoes net and small romantic light in the room is blue. That’s how my blue
eyes beholding a new life in Sri Lanka. Am I crazy? Maybe, but who cares!
My buddy Thilina climbed up coconut tree. And that's how I tasted kind coconuts for the first time in my life |
